What is Punarnava ?
Punarnava means “to become new again”, medically you can translate that into, is a herb which has the capacity to renew and refresh the body. Botanically it is called Boerhavia diffusa and belongs to the Nyctaginaceae family. Ayurvedic texts praise the medicinal properties of this plant. It is a perennial herb, that grows like a creeper almost like a web, and is purple in colour.
How and where is Punarnava cultivated ?
Punarnava is a plant which is native to India, and it grows like a creeper to an average height of nine feet. The stem is purple however the leaves are white, it has flowers and fruits that grow onto it. This plant flourishes in the rainy season and dries up in the summer. Nowadays other countries have started growing this plant as well.
What are the medicinal uses of Punarnava ?
