What is Neem ?
The Neem tree gets its name from the Sanskrit word Nimba, which means “bestower of good health”, and is described as “Sarva Roga Nivarini” the one that addresses all ailments and illnesses. Therefore the neem tree has come to personify good health.
How and where is Neem cultivated ?
Azadirachta indica, botanical name for neem indicates clearly that the tree is native to India. However since ancient India stretched to include Burma, Pakistan, Myanamar etc, the tree is found there to. The tree belongs to the family of meliaceae which is the mahogany family It is a very hardy tree, once it takes root it can survive all climatic condition with minimal water. It has known to live upto 250 years. Its expanse and height is quite large and hence has to be planted atleast 20 feet apart.
